Campbeltown’s town hall is to have its ownership transferred from Argyll and Bute Council to the South Kintyre Development Trust (SKDT).

Announced by the council  on Thursday, May 23 2013, this transfer will allow SKDT to continue with plans to renovate the town hall into a place for the whole community to make use of.

Campbeltown is in mourning after popular 19-year-old Scott Morrison died on Saturday May 18 2013 following a car accident. Tributes have been made to the ‘big friendly giant’.

ACHA says for technical reasons it is not always possible to retain the fires and that tenants are given advice on the best way to use new electric heating.

Kintyre has been praised fulsomely for its beauty, hospitalilty and cattle herds when Campbeltown welcomed the Ayrshire Cattle Society for its annual general meeting and conference.

The events were held in Kintyre as Robin Barr of Clochkeil Farm was president of the society.

Despite being crowned the champions of Scottish Amateur Football League Division two the previous week, Campeltown Pupils still fought Paisley all the way during their last match of the season to deny the Central Belt side a promotion spot.
