The felt covering the spire of Campbeltown’s historic town hall was ripped loose by the high winds and flapping around,sending pieces of debris to the ground and promting police to close a section of the street for public safety. Power also went off in the town in the afternoon. See video below. Campbeltown’s lantern parade and Christmas parade took place on the very wet night of November 24 2011,with many of the town’s organisations taking part despite the weather. The town’s Christmas lights were then switched on. Campbeltown had a wonderful Guy Fawkes Night on Saturday,thanks to the hard work of the Dalintober and Millknowe Tenants and Residents Association and the retained and Junior firefighters at at the town’s fire station. To celebrate its 150th anniversary in July,Campbeltown Lifeboat held a gala day and raft race with a dance in the evening in the Victoria Hall.
