Sanda Island closes its doors to visitors

sandaislandsc10sanda01noThe Swiss millionnaire who owns Sanda Island, off Southend,  Kintyre, has blamed littering, difficulties in finding employees,  a lack of visitors and problems with the water supply for closing the hotel and restaurant on the island.

And while the right to roam legislation still allows the public to visit the island, there is now no access via the pier or moorings as they are private.

Property developer Michael Meier, who bought the island in 2010, had announced on his website that the island was now private and visitors would not be welcome.
