FEARS that plans for a new cheese making facility at Campbeltown Creamery were not moving forward have been put to rest.
A number of Kintyre farmers have made major investments over the last few months in anticipation of the upgrading of the existing factory, but began to worry when there was no news.
However,First Milk has confirmed that a planning application was submitted on Monday to Argyll and Bute Council.
This is for a change of use of one existing building to house a new cheese making facility to help increase production and efficiencies;a new building to accommodate new steam raising equipment to help reduce the reliance on fossil fuels;and a further change of use of a smaller area of the site into a whey processing facility.
Kintyre First Milk representative Sandy Pirie said members were now feeling more reassured plans were being put forward.
