Ship’s bell comes home to Campbeltown

VARIOUS people joined together to witness a special moment in the history of Campbeltown last week.

The bell from HMS Campbeltown was handed over to the town for safe keeping since she was decommissioned last year.

Former commanding officer of the ship,Gordon Abernethy,who has strong connections to the area,presented the bell to provost Isobel Strong and convenor of the town’s community council Andrew Hemmings at a civic reception.
