THE cream of the world’s pipers will gather in Campbeltown this weekend,September 15-16,2012.
Hosted by Kintyre Piping Society the annual Springbank Invitational line up this year is a very impressive one;in fact most of the pipers have excelled at the Northern meeting, held last week in the Eden Court Theatre in Inverness or at Oban last month.
The line-up features Stuart Liddell of Inveraray, who won the senior piobarachd at Oban,Willie McCallum, who is the holder at Springbank having won the silver medal last year as well as Pipe Major Roddy MacLeod MBE,the winner overall at the Glenfiddich Championships.
Benderloch’s Angus MacColl,Iain Speirs from Edinburgh and Niall Stewart from the Kyles of Lochalsh will also join Pipe Major Gordon Walker from Ayrshire in the line up. Gordon won the former winner’s march, strathspey and reel at Oban this year.
This year will see Callum Beaumont from Bo’ness appearing for the first time at the invitational.
