A LUCKY set of Campbeltown diners will have a meal prepared for them tonight,September 5,2012,by celebrity chefs Nick Nairn and Paul Rankin.
The TV duo are in town to film an episode of the second series of ‘Paul and Nick’s Big Food Trip’,which looks at culinary and historical links between Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Each episode involves the chefs cooking a meal for some local people – and in Campbeltown’s case the offer went to staff and board members at the Picture House Cinema in the town.
‘We heard about it being the oldest cinema in Scotland and thought we would like to cook for them,’ Nick Nairn explained.
Harvard Davis and his wife Una have given up their kitchen and dining room for the filming.
The chefs went looking for local ingredients in the morning, and started cooking this afternoon to serve a meal in the evening for eight guests.
The whole day is being filmed for an episode of the eight-part-series,to be aired on STV in March next year.
‘We’re very happy to have everybody here,’Harvard said. ‘I won’t be in the filming myself, but I’ll certainly be trying whatever it is they serve.’
Ulsterman Paul Rankin revealed one of the dishes on the menu will be an ‘Ulster Scotch Egg’,using locally sourced smoked sausage meat.
