THE Courier’s Ruth McClean will soon be saddling up for her biggest challenge of the year – a cycle from London to Brussels in aid of Kidney Research UK.
The 350-mile ride will start in London on Wednesday,August 29 and finish in Brussels on September 1,passing through Amsterdam on the way.
The 24-year-old,who is originally from Bute, will be saddling up with around 60 others, having prepared for the challenge by training regularly out on the roads of Kintyre.
Last year she cycled from London to Paris –300 miles over four days –raising £1,700 in aid of Campbeltown Lifeboat.
This year she has a target of £1,500 for Kidney Research, and would like to thank all who have kindly donated so far, pushing her close to the £1,100 mark.
‘Everyone has been so generous so far,and I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far,and also to those who have supported me in any way, shape or form,’ said Ruth, who has worked at The Courier for the last five-and-a-half years.
‘This is tougher than last year’s cycle but I’m looking forward to the challenge and raising more money for charity.’
Any further donations to help her reach the target would be greatly appreciated.
This can be done at Ruth’s online fundraising page www.doitforcharity.com/ruthmcclean.
