Environment minister Stewart Stevenson visited Machrihanish Airbase on Monday,May 28 2012,as news broke that the community company had been successful in its bid to buyout the base.Paying just £1,the Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) has spent the last four years working towards this,and are pleased it that their efforts have paid off.
Mr Stevenson,members of MACC,and invited guests were given a tour of the base which boasts more than 200 buildings,as well as one of the longest runways in Europe.
