FEARS about an end to a ‘lifeline’ transport service for older people living in rural locations in Kintyre,Argyll, have been allayed – for the time being at least.
The contract Argyll and Bute Council has with the British Red Cross to carry out the service was due to run out at the end of March but has been extended for another month.
The Courier understands Argyll and Bute Council is hopeful the money would be found to maintain this service, which has been described as ‘a lifeline’ to older and less mobile people living in rural locations.
