With the game in doubt due to heavy rain, both teams were delighted to take to the field to complete another fixture in the seemingly never ending 2023/24 season.
Following the sad recent loss of two Lochaber RFC stalwarts, there was a minute’s silence for former player and youth coach Neil Yule and former club president Angus Nicolson before kick off.
With the rain now easing and the sun threatening to break through the clouds, Lochaber kicked off towards the club house with the wind at their back.
Great work from Liam Ryan saw him canter up the field only to be hauled down just before the line. A quick pick up from Findlay Ireland opened the scoring with captain Ryan Davies adding the conversion.
Two more tries quickly followed with wingers Davy Duncan and Stuart Hinchcliffe getting in on the action as Lochaber found holes and soft shoulders in the Hyndland back line.
The forwards decided it was their turn to get in on the action, firstly with Ben Fulford finishing off a flowing attacking move and then Pete Cochrane smashing through from the opposition 10 metre line, out stepping defenders and finishing under the posts.
Davies added three of the four conversions for a 33-0 half time lead.
